These are the EPA city/hwy ratings for 1999 Audis, converted to be comparable to new cars today.
Audi A4 4 cyl auto: 18/28
Audi A4 4 cyl manual: 20/29
Audi A4 6 cyl auto: 16/27
Audi A4 6 cyl manual: 18/26
Audi A6 6 cyl auto: 16/25
So, apparently not much differnce if they have comparable engines. Take 1-2 mpg off all numbers if the car has quattro. Info from fueleconomy.gov.
