Our turn signals do not work and my husband, who is normally very mechanical, cannot find where it's located. How do you replace the flasher in a 1998 Buick Park Avenue?Linda
The "blinker" switch, is usually light blue (blue-green) in color, it is about as big around as a broom handle, and about 3/4 inch long. In the plastic writing on its face will be raised letters that say "Signal Flasher."
If its not on the fuse panel at the top of the fuse case, then look above and right of the gas pedal. Then if not, to the left of the brake pedal on the firewall.
Even when they go bad the will click just "One time" and if its quiet you can find it quickly.
On top of the steering column above the brake, there are 4 wires that are together coming out of the top column and will go left or right...you can follow the wires with your fingers they are connected to the hand signal lever above.
The replacement part is usually about $3, and are common and usually even on the "HELP" brand parts rack in any auto parts store and sometimes Wall Mart.
There are some switches that are silver and the same size, but your car I'm sure still has the original flasher, and will be as described above.
Like i say it will probably click just "once", when the switch is activated.....and you can find it by the sound, unless it is totally fried.
Good hunting....
Your owners manual should tell you the location...see the fuse panel picture, and go down the list of numbers....it should be listed there, also.
(Houston)How do you replace the flasher in a 1998 Buick Park Avenue?check on the fusebox. Thats where a lot of them are put, but it might be somewhere else on your car. If you can't find it after you check that call a dealer and ask a mechanic. How do you replace the flasher in a 1998 Buick Park Avenue?the flasher relay is located under the dashboard, around the center of the dashboard area. Although, the flasher relay is not a common problem for these vehicles. Usually, you find that the turn signal switch is bad ( a relatively expensive item GM #88964587 at $568.48) not to say that it is, but it's a good place to start.
