Why does my 99 Buick jerk the first 8 minutes of driving?

After the 8 minutes of jerking you can't feel it anymore. It seems like it jerks as it's accelerating. Why does my 99 Buick jerk the first 8 minutes of driving? As stated by others, it does sound like a misfire condition that can be cured with a tune-up. If you don't have a check engine light on, then most likely this is what you need. Had the same symptoms on my 03 Regal and changing the plugs, wires and fuel filter fixed it. Not knowing what model your Buick is, it's hard to recommend what specific parts are needed, but the ignition coil systems in these cars are very good, so stick with OE-brand (ACDelco or Packard) plugs, wires and fuel filters and you should be fine. Check your ignition coil terminals for corrosion as you do this too. If they appear a dull grey color or anything worse than a shiny silver color, take some scotch-brite or mild sandpaper and lightly scuff them until they are bright silver. Use dielectric grease on the terminals and on the plug wire boots to prevent future corrosion and sticking. Would also be a good idea to check your air filter and fluids while you're at it to make sure the problem may not be elsewhere. Why does my 99 Buick jerk the first 8 minutes of driving? You do not say how many miles are on the car.

It could be a number of things/needs===tune-up, air/fuel filter may need to be replaced, tyranny fluid may be low, clogged catalytic converter and etc.

As you can see it may be one or a number of things.

I would take it to a repair shop and see what they have to say.Why does my 99 Buick jerk the first 8 minutes of driving? My first guess would be moisture surrounding the ignition wires causing the spark to jump off the wire before it gets to the spark plug. As the engine warms it evaporates the moisture. New spark plugs and a set of wires should cure it. Ignition coils on this model were an issue as well for the same problem.
