Why is GM getting rid of Pontiac, their most popular brand? Why not Buick?

Pontiac has a lot of history and according to a recent survey, is the GM brand consumers would least prefer to be retired. Their relatively new Solstice model is very popular. Yet it appears that it is Pontiac that GM will be retiring. Why? Why not Buick, the old clunky brand that everyone makes fun of?Why is GM getting rid of Pontiac, their most popular brand? Pontiac is NOT GM's biggest brand, not even close. Pontiac was their smallest and the company decided the one brand of car they could probably live without. The new redesigned Buicks and expected to sell well and Buick's continue to sell better than Pontiac, always have. Pontiac was only popular when muscle cars, their historic specialty, was popular, now that people want practical cars that look good and are fun to drive, Pontiac just can't competeWhy is GM getting rid of Pontiac, their most popular brand? Why not Buick?Most people dont realize it was buick,that introduced the V6 infact way back ,that 3.8 has been a world beater,getting old now but very good ,then before that, all alloy V8 back in 1962,then before that the great straight eight in 1931,to 1953,then off coarse the terrific nail head 401 ci and 425 ci V8 ask any custom hot rod man he will tell you,then the mighty 455ci ,Buick has always been a safe reliable ,dependable builder ,

thats why buick said, #When better cars are built Buick will build then#.
That's the same thing I asked my brother YEARS ago. Back in 1987 I said the ''Olds is going out of business soon'' based on the crap that I had to work on in a GM dealer. Soon was stretched out to 2003 when they finally dumped.

When I heard that they were dropping Pontiac I asked my brother why, that buick should be next. There are only so many old farts around to buy them. He said ''no way China is buying alot of buicks''!

Its because of sales to China is the reason why.Why is GM getting rid of Pontiac, their most popular brand? Why not Buick?Buick has been in business also for like 100years in China. The Chinese Buick's are lots nice than their US counterparts.



The $$$ amount for a Chinese Buick is much more than the US ones, and the Chinese are willing to pay and there is not much in the way of incentives currently.Why is GM getting rid of Pontiac, their most popular brand? Why not Buick?
You might call it clunky and young people don't buy it much but did you know that Buick is the most dependable car in the WORLD over its lifetime.
