Does a 1950 buick super have an enclosed driveshaft?

So im looking at buying a partially dissasembled 1950 buick super. Well i want it for the engine and tranny, maybe the rear, for a hot rod im building. (hey, i just think a straight 8 would look awesome in a T-bucket). But i recall the old chevies had enclosed driveshafts, do these buicks? and if so..how do i used this motor and tranny in my car? Can it be easily converted to open drive shaft?Does a 1950 buick super have an enclosed driveshaft?They are not a enclosed drive shaft. But the auto makes run the drive shaft through the frame in the center of the car. Its just a frame design. The motor, transmission and drive shaft are the same as any other drive train in most vehicles.Does a 1950 buick super have an enclosed driveshaft?Yes.. straight eight motor, probably Dyna-flow automatic, and enclosed driveshaft/rearaxle..



I doubt if you could find a machinist who could shorten it...



Not certain, but I think Buick didn't have an open driveshaft until 58..



only option is machining an adapter kit to mate to someone elses bell housing...
