What can cause the timing in my 96 buick century to be set back 19 degrees?
my buick century is a 3.1 fuel injected engine with a distributorless ignition system(uses coils). when i plugged in my scantool the ignition timing is set back 19 degrees. what components can cause that? What can cause the timing in my 96 buick century to be set back 19 degrees?Timing has to be advanced 18 - 20 degrees, this allows combustion to take place when it is most efficient. Since combustion takes a set amount of time to occur, it must start aprox. 18-20 degrees BEFORE Top Dead Center (TDC) in order for the engine to run correctly.
