Why does my 1997 buick regal start with the alarm control start and not start with the key?

im having problem with my car the car wont start with the key at all. it does is a clicking noise in Eugine part of the car it sound like it wants to start but it doesn't . Sounds like you are having a problem with the security system since your remote start works and your key does not. The remote start system bypasses the security key feature in order to start the car thats why it works but not the key. If your key has i small pellet in it with what looks like a small strip of steel exposed on both sides im pretty sure you have a small broken wire in the steering column, i have fixed a ton of these. If it has the key with the pellet in it i can tell you how to fix it cheap and permanently bypass it. Its a very simple procedure and only costs a few bucks. let me know.



FYI you should be able to still drive your car by starting it with the remote and then inserting your key and turning it to the run position.
