The TPS reads positioning and sends info to the computer. Gas economy could sufferCan my 1998 Buick Century be driven with the throttle position sensor disconnected?you can, but it wont run worth a crap, besides your light will stay on.Can my 1998 Buick Century be driven with the throttle position sensor disconnected?nope you hve to have it hooked up at all times this keeps your reading of the miles on your car in it is not good to staret to mess with your carCan my 1998 Buick Century be driven with the throttle position sensor disconnected?
Yes, you can. With the TPS connector disconnected, the pcm will set a diagnostic fault P0121 TP sensor performance, P0122 TPS circuit low, and P0123 TPS circuit high. With all three faults present, the pcm is able to determine that the tps is most likely disconnected. The pcm will be able to calculate a back up fuel map based on other inputs, mainly the mass air flow sensor.
