I was told I may need a new one. I hit a dead rabbit on the way to church last Sunday, and the pipe snapped off. A local mechanic welded it back on, but he said if it doesn't hold, I'll need a new one. If it damage the catalytic converter itself, then you need to replace it. If it only broke the welding of the pipe, you can get a new exhaust pipe bracket and have it welded on there for a reasonable price.
