Information on a buick century transmission?

I own a Buick Century. It is a 2000 and I am having a problem with my transmission. Every time I go some place it seems to shift hard into gears. It thumps when it changes gears. I've changed the transmission filter and fluid in it, but I still have the same problem. Any advice on what this could be caused by. And could you give me an estimate on what it would cost me?Information on a buick century transmission?well, its funny that you mentioned a thump. I don't think its a transmission problem, the way your describing it, it sounds like a bad transmission mount . the rubber piece on the mount could be damaged and everytime the transmission shifts, its going metal to metal. that's my theory. A new transmission could cost you a lot. My guess is 1,000 to 2,000 for a new one and having it put it. Mechanics at car places are outrageous. A mechanic that works out of his house would be a lot cheaper. A transmission at a junk yard would be even cheaper, but then who knows if it would work or not.
