when i turn the air on the slight rattling ( from inside the pulley) goes away? its a 1999 buick park avenue not the ultra IS IT SAFE to drive bc when i turn the air on it makes no sound what so ever. only when the air is off.

Most newer GM ac clutches are designed to be replaced. I would guess $30 for the bearing, 2 hours labor. (average $75/hr) It requires a special tool to remove the housing. Ask your mechanic if they have it beforehand.
