Can this mean that the electronic fuel injectors need cleaned? Or could it be something else? It's also started to run rough lately. When first starting my 1993 Buick Skylark, it hesitates on accelleration?Check engine light on? If it runs rough, there is probably a problem to fix, although that problem may not be what is causing your hesitation.
Many times, a car manufacturer will receive enough complaints about a certain symptom of a particular vehicle that they will examine the car and come up with a remedy. They will then release a TSB, or technical service bulletin, that will address the problem and how to correct it. The TSB may include new or revised parts or components, or maybe just simple adjustments. In your case, the first thing I think of is how often GM will release a revised PROM (computer chip) or Flash (reprogramming of computer) for issues such as cold driveability issues.
Call the dealer with your VIN # and ask if there is a service bulletin to fix such an issue on your car. In addition to dealers, most quality repair shops should have access to these TSB and may possibly be able to do the repair at a competitive price.
But, dont forget that your running rough problem may or may not be related to this. When first starting my 1993 Buick Skylark, it hesitates on accelleration?yes probably the injectors need to be clean, but it could also be the spark plugs, spark plugs cables or the air filter, so i recomend you check the air filter and change it if necesary, also you may want to check the tubbing where the air flow passes sometimes it gets dirty, then you must check your spark plugs, try to take one out and check it, if they are in bad conditions, change them, then if the problem persist, check the cables if they're too old change them if you dont know, clean the injectors first, then try changing the cables of the spark plugs. the last thing you could do is clean the injectors, because its cheapper to change everything else,
it could be also the fuel filter, check the last time you change it, if you don't know, it's good to change it tooi'll say every 40000 kms depending on the brand,
