Can a motor from a 96 buick fit inside a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix?

i know the motors are both 3800s. will i need to get a new wiring harness or will the wiring harness from the Grand Prix plug into the buick motor with no problems. and what parts would have to be changed to make it fit right? Can a motor from a 96 buick fit inside a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix? The answer is a comparison check list, look at them side by side and visually pick out the items you will have to change. The base 3800 block should be identical, it is only the accessories, brackets, and (maybe) some small piece of wiring. I am just finishing a swap on my Buick, it is a 1999 3100 m-code and i am putting a 2001 j-code 3100 in its place. The only difference was the injector wiring so i just swapped the injector system from the m-code and they popped right in (no re-wiring). They all told me it was different and could not be done, but they don't call me "The Manic Mechanic" for nothing so they were wrong. Can a motor from a 96 buick fit inside a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix?not knowing right off top of my head. i'll say this if they look the same they are the same. you may have to change a sensor or two (as they may have different connectors) but yes if they appear to be thee same intake, exhaust manifold, location of acc. like alt, a/c, p/s, then yes it should bolt right inCan a motor from a 96 buick fit inside a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix?i would say yes. match them up. if they look alike then probably it will drop right in. the only thing you might have to change is the manifolds if the buick manifolds are bent different.
